About the Event
For the last 5 years, the Young Writers’ Endeavor has been a space to create beautiful Baha’i-inspired art together. This year, we’re setting out to create pieces that help others learn—across all genres. Drawing from the Baha’i Writings, the strategies of the Ruhi Institute, contemporary learning techniques, and our own creative works of the last few years, YWE 2024 will be an intensive, community-focused workshop where we create pieces that invite participation in our own neighborhoods.
This year’s workshop kicks off a new stage in YWE’s life: one that’s less about assignments and facilitators, and more about a group of young, creative people learning together about applying the arts to Baha’i efforts in their communities.
This workshop will lead into cyclical meetings year-round, where participants will apply the products of the workshop to their communities, and study their effects together, so that every year leads to more collaborative creation, innovation, and community building!
DATES: July 21 to August 4, 2024.
HOURS: Any time you want! Just log in, interact, and make sure you do the assignments on time. There will be calls on Sundays, Mondays and Wednesdays, where you will be asked to participate in a live video chat with the group. These will be at 8AM Eastern Time. If you have any limitations to join calls, that's ok -- just let facilitators know.
COST: None! It's free.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. You must be between 12 and 18 years old to participate, with permission from a parent/legal guardian. Only previous participants may be above the age of 18.
2. You must have access to the internet daily.
3. You must have a Google account to use Google Classroom (you can set one up for free!) and we will ask you to create an account on Discord so you can join our instant messaging server (moderated by facilitators).
